Horizontal Blue brings freedivers, AIDA judges, safety teams and volunteers together in Cabo San Lucas for an intensive and welcoming pool competition.
Athletes can compete across the principal horizontal disciplines and static apnea, supported by experienced safety professionals in an environment built around fair play, personal progress and community.

You do not need to be an elite athlete—or hold a certification—to take your place on the start list.
01Do I need to be certified to participate?
No. You do not need a freediving certification to enter Horizontal Blue. You should, however, already be comfortable training the discipline you choose and follow all competition safety rules.
02Is this competition suitable for first-time competitors?
Yes. Horizontal Blue is designed to be welcoming to athletes entering their first competition as well as experienced competitors. The team will explain the schedule, official top procedure and validation protocol.
03Which disciplines can I enter?
You can choose from static apnea (STA), dynamic with fins (DYN), dynamic bi-fins (DYNB) and dynamic no fins (DNF). Choose the disciplines that match your current training and experience.
04Do I need to be an elite freediver?
No. You compete against your own announced performance as much as against a ranking. A controlled, clean performance is a meaningful competition result at every level.
05What safety measures are in place?
Performances take place with trained freediving safety personnel, AIDA judges and an organized competition team. Athletes must attend required briefings and follow the event's safety procedures.
06Do I need a medical certificate?
You must meet the medical requirements stated on the registration form and be fit to freedive. If you have a medical condition or any doubt about your fitness, obtain clearance from a qualified physician before participating.
07Can I train in the pool before the competition?
Yes. Optional pool training is scheduled before the official competition. Places and conditions are confirmed by the organizers, so register early if you want a preparation session.
08What equipment should I bring?
Bring the equipment you normally use for your chosen disciplines, such as a swimsuit or wetsuit, mask or goggles, nose clip and fins. Your equipment must comply with the applicable competition rules.
09Can international athletes participate?
Yes. Freedivers from Mexico and abroad are welcome. The event is held in Cabo San Lucas, and the Ocean Tigers team communicates in English, Spanish and French.
10How do I secure my place?
Complete the online registration form. The organizers will then confirm availability, required documents, fees and the next steps. Registration is only final once those requirements are completed.

Swimming Pool

The Don Koll Olympic Swimming Pool is the first Olympic-size swimming pool in Los Cabos and one of the finest aquatic training facilities in Baja California Sur. Located in the Don Koll Sports Complex in Cabo San Lucas, this modern venue meets international competition standards and provides the ideal environment for swimming, freediving, and high-performance aquatic sports.
Ocean Tigers proudly uses the pool for AIDA freediving courses, pool training sessions, safety courses, and athlete preparation. Public access is reserved for local residents registered with INDEM.
